The android device does not come built with the option to automatically downsize an image. The only option is to use a third party app. Below are some links worth trying although be warned! Use these apps at your own risk!
2) iOS device
Select one or more photos from the camera storage and choose to send them by email. You will be asked whether you want to send the images in full size or make them smaller so that the email won't be so large. Adjust as you see best and send.
